Lazaat Hotel Wedding Photography

Back in August (that already feels like so long ago, I can’t wait for summer!) I drove up to Hull to photograph Sarah and Danny’s Lazaat Hotel wedding in Cottingham. It was my first time shooting a Hull wedding and I got to see the Humber Bridge on my journey up – the science geek in me was very excited! Earlier in the year I’d met up with Danny and Sarah for their pre-wedding shoot at Yorkshire Sculpture Park. We’d had such a giggle so I knew their wedding day was going to be really chilled out.

Wedding Preparations at Lazaat Hotel

My second shooter, Jaye, spent the morning with the boys. By the sounds of the stories and looking over the photos, they had an absolute ball! Once the lads were ready they drove to a local park (with an actual WINDMILL!) and they all went a bit crazy, letting their inner child loose on the park obstacle course. They’re all just a bunch of big kids! Luckily no trousers were split during all their antics! 😉

It was a little bit more refined back at the hotel. The girls were all chattering away as they got their hair and makeup done. I got busy photographing all the details, one of the first things I do when I arrive at bridal prep. That way everyone gets used to having me around before I start taking photos of them. Plus, I get to have a nosy at the dresses and flowers too! Sarah had outdone herself, how incredible are those bridesmaids dresses?! I instantly fell in love with the sequin top and floaty skirt! As a side note I also need to point out how much I love the ‘tree staircase’ and ivy walls at Lazaat. They look so, so great in photos! Not your average bridal entrance eh!

As Sarah was making her way to the ceremony room Danny was entertaining himself by taking selfies. Anything to keep those nerves at bay! I love the moment they see each other for the first time. Look at those smiles! Just look at them!

As they gleefully walked up the aisle together Danny did the unthinkable, he stood on the back of Sarah’s dress! Noooooo! Luckily she saw the funny side! She was immediately handed a glass of champagne which helped!

Creative and Fun Wedding Portraits

I had a hunt around and found a nearby wheat field and some shipping containers to use during the evening portraits. I knew that Sarah and Danny would be up for going on an adventure! We decided to go exploring while the guests were enjoying their colourful cocktails.

I love getting creative during portraits and it’s great when couples embrace that and get silly and spontaneous. Just like Sarah and Danny! We had such a giggle, especially when Danny tried to practice their first dance in the field!

Sarah and Danny, you guys are brilliant and were awesome to work with! Jaye and I had a great time at your Lazaat Hotel wedding. Thank you for having us!
